4 year checkup

There's no better time to blog again...almost exactly a year later!

I want to remember this info in the future.

Emily had her 4 year checkup today with Dr. King. The first time she met him she called him Dr. King Triton, from Little Mermaid, of course. He said she was perfectly proportioned in weight and height, her sight and hearing were good, she was smart, cute and had a great smile. What more could a mom want, right?! He asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said, a doctor, so that might have buttered him up a little. ;)

Her stats were:
36 lbs-60%
3'4"-60%
15 BMI

She had 4 shots and was very tough until the end and then let the scream loose! Here's our little "Brave" girl in her Merida costume.

A Million and One 3rd Birthday Parties!!

Emily's 3rd birthday was on September 8th, that morning I made her heart pancakes (with a candle, of course) and we sang happy birthday. That night we all (Emily, Steve, Dad, Henry, Thelma, Holly & Mike and I) went to Chuck E Cheese, had cupcakes and sang happy birthday again! Then, Saturday was her birthday Little Mermaid party w/ her friends Southern & Sailor. Granny, Papa Henry and Aunt Susan were able to come down from Arkansas. Aunt Sharon came from Virginia and Papa Vince came from The Virgin Islands. Her big present was a wooden swingset w/ a slide, fort and a bench & table from Nana, Granny, Papa Henry, Steve and I. I feel like we partied all week! Here are some pictures of the festivities. Emily is one loved and lucky girl!

Emily's bathroom

I've had this plain white shower curtain for years. A couple of weeks ago I decided that Emily bathroom was just blah! I thought about embroidering the white shower curtain with an E and then I thought well, if we have another child they will share a bathroom, so I decided to go with a W and in turquoise, so it would be gender neutral. I started googling embroidered shower curtain, etc. I saw this one on pinterest that was so cute with ribbon tied around the hangers. The bathroom is still not totally complete. I'm going to try and find some cute little prints to go above the towels. Also, I have some white towels I'm thinking about using some left over material to sew a border around them.
Needs to be ironed...

Crafty Mood...

Sometimes I get in crafty moods and I just can't stop. When I start something I HAVE to finish it that day! Well, this birthday balloon wreath is the exception!! It took me 2 weeks to make this baby! I kept on running out of balloons or greening pins (how you attach the balloons to the wreath), so I would have to go back to the store! Most times I would work on it while Emily was napping, so I couldn't just get up and leave.

This is what I used:

1 straw 16" wreath
400 balloons
400 greening pins

I made it very full and big! I like it, but you can use a lot less balloons/greening pins and it will look just fine. The "E" is a spray painted cardboard letter that we used on her highchair at her 1st birthday party.

I purchased the wreath at Michaels, the balloons at DollarTree (a lot cheaper), the greening pins at Wal-Mart (cheaper too) and the "E" at Hobby Lobby. This is another reason it took me so long to make, I had to go to all of these places!! :)

Sewing...

I bought a sewing machine from my sister (it was still in the box)!! I've wanted one for a while, but didn't want to spend a lot, not knowing how much time I would actually spend using it. She gave me the family discount, so I jumped on it! :) I've had little odds and ends around the house I needed a sewing machine to fix for a while now. First, I hemmed some curtains that I had cut off and tried to hide the bottom! Then, I fixed a dress of mine that the straps had broke. Finally, I made Emily a pillowcase dress! I figured this would be an easy project to start with. I didn't have a pattern, so I used an old pillowcase dress she has and made it a little longer and wider. I can say I was pretty impressed with myself. I really didn't think I could do it and it turned out ok. The armholes were the hardest part! What do you think?

An interview, with the one and only Emily Brooke Walker!

I saw this on a blog I read and decided to "interview" Emily. I asked her if I could ask her some questions. She said, "of course"...this is her new saying!

What is your name? Emily Brooke
How old are you? 3---holds up 3 fingers
What is your favorite color? umm, pink, pink frogs
Who is your best friend? Emily, Emily best friend
What is your favorite animal? Umm, umm pig

Visitors...

We've been busy with visitors...first Granny and Papa came at the beginning of July. They stayed out at Lake Lanier in their motorhome. We took several trips out there and of course, a trip to the outlet mall. Here are a few pics from their visit.

Then, my mom came 2 weeks later. We went to the outlet mall, again!! Went to the pool and went to see Winnie the Pooh.
Now, it's my Dad and Linda's turn! They are suppose to be here around the end of August.

Reading...

I've never been much of a reader. My mind goes a thousand miles an hour all the time and it's hard for me to open a book and devote my head to just that book. I usually open it, "read" a couple pages and then realize I have no idea what I just read because I was thinking of so many other things. Does this ever happen to you?

My neighbor let me borrow this book she had recently read.
The first night I opened it I almost couldn't put it down. I actually fell asleep and woke up around 2 am laying on the book. I had read over 100 pages. He is so descriptive and kept my attention, I loved it! I read the whole book in 4 days that's a miracle for me. I'm so excited for it come out as a movie. They are suppose to start filming this fall.

So, I have decided that I want to read more. I have a goal of 2 books a month.

I'm now reading this book. Tina Fey is hilarious and so is this book.

Fruit Pizza

One of my neighbors had this the other day and then I saw it on a blog I read yesterday. I KNEW then it was my destiny to make one. :) I've only made it once, but someone always made one when we had food day at the bank and I LOVE it! It's a great summer dessert since it's not hot and heavy. And it's easy, which of course, is my kind of cooking!

Roll sugar cookie dough on a round pizza baking sheet (I used my Pampered Chef Pizza Stone, if you have one)
Bake @350 for 12 minutes
In a mixer:
8 oz cream cheese
1/3 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla

Spread on baked cookie crust and put whatever fruit you like! I used blueberries, strawberries, kiwi and mandarin oranges. I didn't get too anal about mine being perfectly round. :)
Enjoy!

Little Mermaid!

This girl LOVES to sing!

Mix Up!

Emily is so funny with some of her words. She came in the office today and said, "Momma come here it's an elapus...I said, an elephant. She said no, an elapus. I thought for a minute and said, OHHH an octopus? Yes, she said. HA! One other thing she mixes up is a crocodile. She calls her "Croc" shoes crocodinosaur shoes! She also has a plate with a crocodile on it and says the same thing..."I want my crocodinosaur plate" I try to correct her by saying it again and she says, "NO, crocodinosaur!" I have NO idea where she got that hard head of hers! :)

Name??

I had to post this on the blog so I would remember. When we ask Emily what her name is she says, Emily Steve Walker. I laugh so hard! She says Steve's name correctly and mine most of the time, sometimes my name is Steve Walker too. :)

Show and Tell

Emily moved up to a new class at her school last week. It's kind of bittersweet! I loved her old teacher Miss Michele, and so did Emily. Miss Michele had been her teacher for a year. I'm sure I'll like her new teachers just fine, but I like consistency!

Anyway, today was her first show and tell. When she got up this morning I asked her want she wanted to take to school for show and tell. She put her finger on her chin and said, hmmm, I wanna take my mommy!" I said you can't take your mommy, what else do you want to take, she said, "I want to take my Emily!" (our neighbor). I then said ok, it has to be a toy and opened the toy box. She picked her stethoscope. We practiced how to say it on the way to school. She did pretty good...stetha-scock!
